Time running out to register to vote in County Council elections

Residents of the county have until 13 April to register to vote in Cumbria County Council Elections on Thursday 4 May.

Anyone who has recently moved to the county or who has changed address since the electoral register was updated last October are being urged to contact their local Electoral Registration Officer before the deadline or miss out on their chance to vote.  

Applications for postal votes need to be with the appropriate Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on the 18 April to meet national and local deadlines. 

Electors can also apply to vote ‘by proxy’ – this is where you appoint someone you know to vote for you - and if this applies to you your application to vote by proxy must be received by the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on 25 April.

Residents wanting to register to vote, to apply to vote by post or to apply to vote by proxy can get further information and application forms from their local Electoral Registration Officers as follows:
