Additional Windermere crossings for pedestrians and cyclists in time for summer holidays

Windermere Lake Cruises have made some changes to their crossing times this weekend in anticipation of increased visitor numbers during the school holiday period.  The changes come in to effect from tomorrow (Saturday 21 July).

The county council has placed additional signage either side of the ferry to advise of the new and additional crossing times, and highlighted the change in service provision for cyclists and pedestrians.

Details of crossing times:

FERRY NAB SIDE

Pedestrians

Windermere Lake Cruises operate a pedestrian vessel from Bowness to Ferry House at the following times:

10.00, 10.40, 11.20, 12.00, 12.40, 14.00, 14.40, 15.20, 16.00, 16.40

The crossing takes approx 15 minutes and departs from Pier 3 on Bowness Promenade.

This vessel is for pedestrians only and cannot accommodate cycles.

Cyclists

Windermere Lake Cruises operate a bike-friendly vessel from Brockhole to Bark Barn (2 miles north of Ferry House) at the following times:

10.15, 10.45, 11.15, 11.45, 14.00, 14.30, 15.45, 16.15, 16.45

The crossing takes approx 15 minutes and departs from Brockhole Pier in the grounds of the Brockhole Visitor Centre.

 This vessel can accommodate cycles and pedestrians, cyclists will be given priority.

FERRY HOUSE SIDE

Pedestrians

Windermere Lake Cruises operate a pedestrian vessel from Ferry House to Bowness at the following times-

10.20, 11.00, 11.40, 12.20, 13.00, 14.20, 15.00, 15.40, 16.20, 17.00

The crossing takes approx 15 minutes and departs from the stone jetty.

This vessel is for pedestrians only and cannot accommodate cycles.

Cyclists

Windermere Lake Cruises operates a bike friendly vessel from Bark Barn to Brockhole Visitor Centre at the following times:

10.30, 11.00, 11.30, 12.00, 14.15, 14.45, 16.00, 16.30

The crossing takes approx. 15 minutes.
