Fostering and Adoption Service launches children’s art competition

Have you got a budding Picasso in your household? This summer why not get your children involved in our brilliant Online Summer Art Competition with prizes worth up to £150 up for grabs?

Our competition which launches today (21 July) is open to all children across Cumbria and the theme for all entries is simply ‘home’. Children across the county have all spent a lot of time at home during lockdown and we wanted to celebrate what every child has done to keep everyone safe at this difficult time with our new competition.

As the council’s Fostering and Adoption Service is committed to finding safe and loving homes for vulnerable children across Cumbria we couldn’t think of a better theme for our art competition.

We know that children around the county have been creating some wonderful art work throughout lockdown and many have been unlocking their inner creativity and now we want to showcase their amazing art on our Facebook page.

Children may want to create a picture of their own home, their dream home, their favourite storybook home, their pet’s home or simply create a piece of art that for them represents home - they can let their imaginations go wild. Entries can be drawings, paintings, collages, sculptures made from textiles or eco-friendly materials - anything goes and the more creative the better!

Who can enter:

The competition is open to all children aged 16 and under from Cumbria and is split into three age categories:

  • 7 and under
  • 8-11
  • 12 to 16

There will be a top prize of a £50 WHSmith voucher in each age category. All entries will be shown on our ‘Children’s Online Art Competition 2020’ Facebook group page and the three winning entries in each age group will all be featured as the header image of our Facebook page.

To enter:

Simply take a photo of your child’s artwork and submit it via messenger on our Facebook page @CumbriaFosteringandAdoption before the closing date of noon on Friday 7 August. Don’t forget to tell us your child’s name, age and which town they are from when you submit your entries. Only one entry per child is permitted.

Our team will shortlist entries in each category which will be displayed on our Children’s Online Art Competition 2020 group page on Facebook for members of the public to cast their votes and to decide who the winner is in each category.

All winners will be contacted via Facebook messenger after public voting closes on Friday 14 August.
